Industrial field service & maintenance
Mobile capture, customer signature and report generation for equipment after-sales, maintenance and on-site service teams.
Operating context
Mobile engineers attend equipment on customer sites, diagnose, repair and leave. The commercial and contractual value of that visit only exists once there is a report the customer accepts.
In practice the report is written later — in a van, at home, or two days afterwards — from memory, loose notes and a camera roll that is not organised by job.
Signatures are collected on paper or not at all. Photographs prove the condition on arrival but are not attached to the finding they support.
By the time the report is issued, the engineer has already moved to the next site and the detail is gone.
Common operational problems
Administration lands outside paid time, which makes it late, thin and inconsistent between engineers.
Photos exist, but nobody can tell which photo supports which fault, or what the condition was before the work started.
The proof that the customer accepted the work is the item most likely to be lost.
A part that needs ordering or a defect that needs a return visit is mentioned in the report text and then forgotten.
Proposed workflow
The engineer builds the report while doing the work, not afterwards.
What the system can capture
Capture is designed to support the engineer, not to police them: it should be faster than writing the same information twice.
Review and approval roles
Records the visit and obtains the signature.
Reviews higher-risk work types before the report is issued.
Turns recommended follow-up into scheduled work or a quotation request.
Decision boundary. Whether equipment is fit to return to service, whether a repair is acceptable, and what is quoted or charged are decisions for qualified engineers and authorised commercial staff.
Reports and follow-through
A field service report that reaches the customer the same day is worth more than a more detailed one that arrives next week.
Evidence status
Custom software for field pipeline service engineers: site photos, service information, customer signature, rapid report generation and email delivery to the customer. This is our clearest cross-industry field service evidence. The client is not named publicly.
The same capture-and-report pattern is running in the maritime products described on the maritime solutions page.
Front-line daily reports consolidated into management-readable summaries. Built; input and output samples and before/after comparison are still being packaged.
Writing back into an existing maintenance system is designed to be possible but is subject to project validation against the specific system and its interfaces.
Limitations
Send us the service report template you currently produce by hand. That is usually enough to see whether this workflow fits.
